IMOGEN SORBY

Imogen Sorby 2

Emerging talent Imogen Sorby achieved her breakthrough moment this year, signing with internationally acclaimed agency The Scouted—and her ADL Fashion Week shoot is only her second ‘shoot ever!

Quietly confident yet softly spoken, Imogen is an Icon on the rise.

We caught Imogen in-between ‘shoots to talk about her love for the vintage feel of North Terrace and why she believes that it’s what’s on the inside that shines through.

When you want to feel confident, what is your go-to look?

It's doing everything—my hair, my makeup, getting ready with my friends, playing music. That's when I feel the best, and when I look the absolute best.

What isone spot in the city you like introducing people to?

The whole city is beautiful. It's so vintage. North Terrace at sunset is my favourite—the whole street is just beautiful.

You’re still early in your career. Is there something you're looking forward to achieving?

Travelling! I've never gone outside of Australia, so I'd love to see new places while working. That's something huge I’m working towards.

Whenyou think about the creative energy in Adelaide, what are some things that come to mind? How would you describe it?

I think it's super modest. No one's really boasting about what they're doing. Everyone's got their own thing going on, whether it's the creative scene, food, or wineries.

Where do you draw inspiration from?

Probably TV and movies. I love watching movies that go back in time to see what they were wearing back then and seeing how it influences fashion now. I think that's really cool.

Tell me, is there anything you've learned about beauty or confidence from the people that are around you?

I've learned that beauty and confidence isn't about what you look like, it's about how you present yourself. Whether it's the way you speak to people, or the way you hold yourself. I don't think that beauty is all in how you look. It's how you are on the inside that really shines through.

What recharges you?

Staying present where you are. Taking a moment looking around you, seeing what you're doing, and staying grounded in the moment.

What’s a preconception about Adelaide that deserves to be flipped on its head?

Most people think it's behind or boring, and that there's nothing to do or see here—but I think people aren't looking in the right places or talking to the right people. If you really explore and have a good look, there's a lot more to Adelaide than meets the eye.
